Obama has “strengthened America”

A few days ago I noted Obama’s suggestion that America has brought terrorism (such as the Christmas day bombing attempt) on itself with its actions, specifically the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.  You can read that here – The Right of a Nation 1-6-2010.

Now, according to Breitbart, this has come up again in Ben Rhodes assessment on this year of Obama’s presidency.

Rhodes, who is the Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications (doesn’t that make you just want to say “blah blah blah blah?), said on a White House blog post that “a year later, America is stronger because of the president’s leadership.” He also said that “by prohibiting torture and working to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, we are denying Al-Qaeda a recruiting tool.”

This begs the question – if keeping prisoners of war in a camp causes more terrorism by creating a “recruiting tool” for Al-Qaeda, what does sending 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan do?  Interestingly enough he said that this proved the strategy and resources were now in place “that this urgent challenge demands.”

Certainly we are going to make Al-Qaeda and would-be Al-Qaeda members mad by sending troops to Afghanistan, right?
